By admin

2 Can Facebook Stop Child Abuse?Campaign to End Violence Against Children wants everyone to change their profile pic to a cartoon character to create awareness against child abuse. That was all C. J. needed to go off on “awareness campaigns” and break down the truth about taking action. Metal up!

    It gets people …
    It gets people talking! Once people start talking, they are informed. When they’re informed they’ll be more likely to report it if they see it. Otherwise people ignore a lot of things.

    I dislike this …
    I dislike this trend as well. Slacktivism of this sort has theoretical benefits of awareness at best, but it fundamentally links something as serious as child abuse with the general laxity and flightiness of Facebook trends. There are hundreds of meaningless chain statuses, etc, that are utterly indistinguishable from this one. Their sole purpose is to entertain brief flights of fancy – it is the nature of the medium of such sites.

    Associating child abuse with flightiness and laxity is stupid.

    Metalmotivation, you are wrong. you need to realize this and remove this video.

    to prove you can’t stop child abuse by changing your fb pic, i punched a 4 year old. lol. xD

  5. Gothi30 says:

    u know what i agree …
    u know what i agree with this guy. I do also believe that this will not stop child abuse. U know there is always hope and thats what the poeple iof facebook r doing, hey have hope that maybe doing this might stop child abuse. I am also participating out of hope. But if it doesnt work then owell it doesnt work, at least we tried though. Its kinda like a protest. or if u see spmeone abusing someone just punch em in the face. I mean i have limits and when those limits r broken then yea.

    @Sneezlebob a) i dont use facebook
    b) i dont believe in giving money to charities
    c) i like to beat my baby brother when my parents are out, so it would be hypocritical of me to donate to an anti child abuse charity

    @teedactle Thanks …
    @teedactle Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I’m fully aware of the opportunity afforded me by the campaign. I seized it because I’ve made a few videos on the abuse of women and children. I also work in communications—especially with non-profits—and many professionals see the social media awareness campaigns as minimalism. In addition, this is Metal Motivation, so I won’t come across in that “friendly” tone. I want the controversy. I want to see people engage. I got what I wanted. ;-)

  10. teedactle says:

    Of course, …
    Of course, spreading awareness is one of the first steps to an internal change. I don’t think anyone actually believes changing their facebook pic will stop child abuse. Think of it this way

    your video encouraging ppl to go a step further wouldn’t of been viewed without the facebook cartoon campaign… what you’re saying is inevitable and slightly contradicting being as on this video all you are is another voice (which is great) but you see my point?

  11. GothicSoltrain says:

    @jlmknight he …
    @jlmknight he actually sounds like a preacher lol don’t get me wrong i am dead set against child abuse and i’m all for it thow this was just a feel i got from his vid good message hope it helps change peoples ways

    @JBroMCMXCI Tell me how much money have you donated?

  15. Sneezlebob says:

    @PrintedTruth …
    @PrintedTruth Religion has nothing to do with this.

  16. Sneezlebob says:

    @tonyincltn The …
    @tonyincltn The problem is, this raises awareness but it doesn’t do anything.

  17. PrintedTruth says:

    People don’t govern …
    People don’t govern themselves when they have religion and government to do it for them. You can’t light a fire without a spark but at some point you have to add fuel or you just get more spark. Awareness has it’s place, but someone has to step up and do something. I wish people were more aware of religious cults and the emotional abuse they cause.

    @jlmknight Thank you for the kind words.

  19. Salsa2o7 says:

    @mikecappa excuse …
    @mikecappa excuse me, you are so wrong, 50% of my friends on FB have not only posted a picture but also posted a shout about child abuse and how it can be stopped, the sipple act of rasing awarness will do little in the short term, but potentially a pheonominal amount in the long term. wake up

  20. SaxonMeezy says:

    @JBroMCMXCI shut up …
    @JBroMCMXCI shut up faggot.

  21. dizquier91 says:

    i went to walmart to stop child abuse

  22. JBroMCMXCI says:

    you look like a …
    you look like a wife beater and child rapist tbh you sick it doesn’t surprise me you hate this awareness campaign.

    but in case you didn’t realise, this campaign will raise awareness of child abuse and raise awareness of charities and support for these children and ultimately this campaign will raise a lot of money for these charities who can then provide much more support to these children.

    @techno34 Thanks, Tech. As you can see by this video, it seems controversy spreads much faster than inspiration.
