I have just started weight watchers 2 weeks ago and have lost 5.4 kgs already (yay me!!) and although my motivation is still very high i do tend to lose it after af ew weeks/months was just wondering if anyone had tips to keep on going keep on going icon smile How do you keep your motivation to lose weight?

Buy a new outfit that is too small and try it on once a week. Get rid of all the clothes that gets too big for you.

Weight loss is an overall process and there are no magic answers. Pay no attention to weight loss supplements and pills and all the latest fads. You need to think about many factors but most of them are related to issues we’ve known about for a very long time. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.

Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few additional small changes – walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.

Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can’t get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate – in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don’t. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

Vary your routines. Don’t eat the same number of calories every day (vary your calories from 1400 a day to 1900 or 2000 some days), eat a variety of foods, and do different kinds and amounts of exercise. You will lose weight much more efficiently if you mix things up from time to time so that your body doesn’t adjust to any one routine.

An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.

A year ago, I started a diet consisting of protein, fruits, and veggies, and exercise. During this diet I lost a total of 25 pounds and started feeling great about myself. The reason that I went on the diet in the first place was because of rejection from a boy that I had a crush because of my weight. After that day I promised myself that I would take better care of myself and prove him wrong. After losing the weight I took a break and gained back a few pounds. I also met the love of my life who supports me and loves the way I look no matter what. This is all great, but it gives me no motivation to start my diet again because I have no one to prove wrong. Can anyone tell me what are some new ways to get motivated and start losing weight again?

What happened here is that you went into a diet not because yourself motivated you but because something else did. As a result there is a big chance of you getting back to your normal diet which is the case here. I suggest that you take time in evaluating yourself and start doing things for your own good not because of some guy. The reason of you wanting to lose weight should be because you want to feel healthier and look better not because you want to please others. Its good to know that you have a boyfriend who supports you and will accept you no matter what. The point here is that for you to be able to take care of yourself regardless of whether or not you have a loving boyfriend. Goodluck.

How do you get motivation to lose weight?

Posted by: admin | Comments (8)

I want to lose weight but I always give up too early to notice any progress.
How can I get the motivation to stay away from food I know is bad for me and keep on exercising?

1、Exercise. Cardio is essential for weight loss. Initially 30 minutes a day is an appropriate amount of exercise. Over time, you want to work up to 60 to 90 minutes a day in order to lose weight quickly.

How can I find motivation to lose weight?

Posted by: admin | Comments (5)

I’ve been overweight for the majority of my life and when I was in middle school I became an emotional eater.

I lost 10lbs last month while I was dating this guy that I really liked. Once we started to drift apart though I lost all the motivation I had and gained all the weight back.

I feel like I only lose weight if I have someone to impress. Where else can I find motivation to lose weight?

well maybe you could motivate yourself by thinking of losing weight TO FIND someone, instead losing weight once you have found someone.
also by looking at skinny celebs, this can motivate you, for example cheryl cole. print pictures of them in bikinis and stick them around the house – on or in the fridge as well.
maybe buy a cute dress for an occasion like a concert or party you are attending, but buy it a size too small, then you will be motivated to lose weight to fit into it.
also try and think of your health – you will live longer if you lead a healthy lifestyle.
another idea would be to book a beach holiday with some friends and someone you like? then you will be motivated to lose weight for this holiday so that you look good in a bikini.
think of when you eat bad food – you feel fat, greasy and you regret it
think of when you eat good food – you feel healthy and encouraged (much better!)
also drink plenty of water – it helps to fill you up between meals and keeps your skin hydrated and looking good too
if you do need to snack then snack on raw fruit and veg. Perhaps if you are bored of the normal ‘apple’ or ‘banana’ then buy exotic fruit – watermelon, mango, pineapple etc.
i hope this helps and YOU CAN DO IT!
